Global patterns of water‐driven human migration

Environmental change is growingly reported as an important driver of human migration. Among all environmental variables, water crises are the most critical factors. To date, patterns interconnections between changes in and migration not yet clearly understood. Here, we explore these through a systematic review that combined quantitative text-mining approach with qualitative thematic analysis. Our results generally concur those previous studies, which found water-driven usually occurs internally population low- middle-income countries dry regions vulnerable more likely to migrate or be displaced face water-related events. However, our causal network analysis highlights only reason for migration: Its related problems could major triggers driving people-at-risk leave their original place. Based on observed evidence, can divided into four patterns: variability quantity, damaging hazards extremes, physical disturbances systems, pollution.
